Level Planning

Objectives:

Unlocking objectives resembles Far Cry's approach where by climbing a tower destroying a radar installation, the tasks are revealed for a specific region. After each task in the area is completed the player may choose to support an assault on the strongpoint in the respective region.

Enemy Distribution & Difficulty:

Arland has been split into 3 difficulty zones. Starting location is in the Green zone where most enemies do not pose a threat or are engaged by friendly units who will support the player. Yellow and Red zones have more specialized units (MG gunners, snipers, AT) as well as less support or interactions with friendly units.

Project Conclusion & Reflection
Working with Arma Reforger was a great learning experience. It presented multiple challenges but also great opportunities.

One of such challenges was the lack of documentation which I mitigated by trying things out myself and following community guides. I believe this issue to sort itself out with time as more and more developers use the workbench.

As for the opportunities, the workbench and the world editor specifically provided a great playground for my creativity. In some ways the engine appeared similar to UE5 and allowed for quick iteration.

The current state of the project is not final. My plans include the addition of adaptive player spawns to speed up the gameplay, adaptive enemy and friendly patrols, and task variety with new points of interest. Additionally, I plan to tackle optimization and garbage collection by cleaning up assets behind the player when moving to a different zone of operation.
