Theme:
Old medieval fortress turned into a fortified warehouse occupied by a gang of bandits.
Player Goal:
Destroy alarms to prevent reinforcements.
Destroy vehicles and ammo crates.
USP:
Infiltration of a fortified position with multiple approaches possible.
Objectives:
My personal objective for this blockout was to get more familiar with cover and object placement. As a level designer, I wanted to improve my overall blockout speed. Additionally, having played Far Cry 4 recently I wanted to re-create the Baghadur fortress which I found to be an interesting enemy strongpoint that I felt I could improve on.
Level Intent & Description:
In this level blockout, I wanted to preserve & utilize some of Far Cry and Ghost Recon's mechanics such as alarm poles and the player's ability to approach objectives from multiple directions.
AI:
For AI enemies I have implemented a simple patrol system that allows them to move from waypoint to waypoint. I have also implemented a detection system and a health system, so I could test the gameplay of my level while building it. I did not implement the combat AI yet as it would take too much time but I will consider doing that in the near future. Later, I switched to using an asset pack for the AI behavior.
Mountain Base:
Initially I did not expect myself to build the inner part of the base which is inside the cliff. However, I changed my mind during the project and decided to build another warehouse space inside the mountain. By expanding the base I could increase the complexity of the level and practice building indoor spaces.
